Adonai Mitchell made a vow to GM Chris Ballard after the Colts drafted him
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapois Colts selected Adonai Mitchell in the 2nd round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Mitchell was viewed by many as a top-tier talent at WR, and he was projected to hear his name called in the first round. After surprisingly falling all the way to pick 52, his first words to the media were, "I'm Pi--ed."

If that wasn't proof of the massive chip forming on his shoulder, his vow to the GM Chris Ballard and the Colts certainly is.

Mitchell is a dynamic talent with solid size at the WR position. At the 2024 Scouting Combine, he measured in at just over 6'2" and 205 lbs and ran his 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds.

An aspect of his game that the Colts were clearly fans of is his route running. During the newest episode of "Behind the Colts," multiple members of the Colts staff spoke on Mitchell's ability as a route runner and other elements of his game.

"I think he's a freaking one-on-one winner in this league with some size at the outside. And that's rare. I see a top-level route runner. I see some Holy S--- in his route running. The way he changes direction on slants, the way he runs double moves and gets out of those things."
- Colts OC Jim Bob Cooter

"He has big play ability. His ability to separate at the top of routes is very impressive."
- Colts HC Shane Steichen

"He has some quick twitch and some short-area quickness. He can separate at the top of routes. He has a knack for setting guys up in intermediate routes and has nice, strong hands."
- Colts WR coach Reggie Wayne

He is also a player the Colts can rely on with arguably the most reliable hands in this year's draft. Mitchell saw 103 targets last season and was only charged with one drop, which gives him a 0.97% drop rate. That is the lowest drop percentage of any FBS player with over 100 targets.
