Can Tim Means Beat Uros Medic?
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Means (33-15-1) doesn’t have the best of tasks this upcoming Saturday. He must go up against Uros Medic (9-2) in a welterweight clash that kicks off the main card. The journeyman fighter must find a way to take down the Serbian superstar.

But does he have a pathway to victory this Saturday? What must the “Dirty Bird” do to pull off a massive upset against Medic? Saturday will be a long night for It’s time to look at what makes Means stand out and what he must do to not be a doormat.

The Tape on Uros Medic

Uros Medic is a methodical fighter, mixing efficient strikes with speed and power. The “Doctor” isn’t afraid to go for the big strike, either. He’ll take a swing at his opponent to keep them off-balance. Medic is also accurate with his strikes (60% striking accuracy), making him a terrifying fighter to face. There’s a reason why he averages 5.64 significant strikes a minute. He’s going for the kill.

However, he can be beat. Looking at his fight against Jalin Turner, Medic found himself on the ground a lot. Turner worked the Serbian welterweight and wore him down, leaving him more susceptible to a submission. That’s how he lost the fight, for he wasn’t able to get out of being grappled.

The Gameplan For Tim Means

While Tim Means is a striker himself (5.10 significant strikes per minute), he also dabbles in takedowns (1.16 takedowns every 15 minutes). In this fight, he must take down Medic early and often. That way, the Oklahoma native can shift the momentum in his favor, giving him more striking opportunities.

Of course, he must also be agile in his fight. As mentioned earlier, the Serbian fighter isn’t afraid to take a big swing. If Means isn’t careful, Medic can land a fight-ending blow. Therefore, getting low and leveraging his power is key to pulling the massive upset.

Yes, Tim Means isn’t in the best position right now. He’s a +250 underdog in his upcoming fight. However, if he follows Jalin Turner’s blueprint and mixes in his own strikes, the “Dirty Bird” can shock the world.
